A metal that looks right can still be the wrong grade. 304 and 316 are hard to tell apart by eye, and an ERW pipe painted black can pass for seamless in a rack. That is why we put testing and paperwork at the centre of how we supply, and why our letterhead carries the line about test certificates through a Government-recognised test house.

Our ISO 9001:2015 certification

ISO 9001:2015 is the international standard for quality management systems. Our certificate, no. 1282043, was issued by Unitas Certification Services with a registration date of 12 March 2025 and an expiry date of 11 February 2028. In practical terms it means our enquiry review, purchasing, material identification, record keeping and complaint handling follow written procedures that an outside auditor checks.

ISO 9001 certifies the system, not a particular bar or pipe. Proof that a specific lot meets its grade comes from the test certificate.

Test certificates through a Government-recognised test house

Samples from the material are tested by a Government-recognised test house, and the results are issued on the test house's report. Where the mill's own certificate is available, that comes too. The two together let your QC team compare the numbers against the standard named on your purchase order, such as ASTM A312 for stainless pipe or ASTM A106 for carbon steel pipe.

What you receive with a supply

If your project needs extra tests, such as intergranular corrosion, hydrotest records or IBR documents, put it in the enquiry so it can be priced and planned. Our guide on how to read a mill test certificate explains what each block on a certificate means.

  • Test certificate showing chemical composition against the specified grade
  • Mechanical results (tensile strength, yield, elongation, hardness) where the test applies to the product
  • Identification that links the certificate to the material supplied
  • Mill test certificate where the producing mill has issued one
  • GST invoice listing grade, size and quantity

How it works

1
Specification reviewWe check grade, standard, size and any testing clauses in your enquiry or PO.
2
Material identificationThe lot is identified so the certificate can be traced back to it.
3
SamplingA sample is drawn from the material for testing.
4
Testing at a recognised test houseChemical and mechanical tests are carried out at a Government-recognised test house.
5
Review against the standardResults are compared with the limits of the specified standard before release.
6
Dispatch with documentsMaterial leaves with the test certificate and invoice.

What is a test certificate for metals?

A test certificate is a document that reports the chemical composition and mechanical properties measured on a specific lot of material and states the standard and grade it was tested against. It lets the buyer confirm, before use, that the material meets the purchase specification.

Is ISO 9001 a product certification?

No. ISO 9001 certifies a company's quality management system, not individual products. A metal supplier with ISO 9001 has audited procedures for ordering, purchasing, traceability and corrective action, while product conformity is shown by test certificates and inspection reports for each lot.

How long is an ISO 9001:2015 certificate valid?

An ISO 9001:2015 certificate is normally issued for three years, with surveillance audits by the certification body during that period and a recertification audit before expiry. Jubilant Impex's certificate no. 1282043 runs from 12 March 2025 to 11 February 2028.

What is the difference between a mill test certificate and a third-party test report?

A mill test certificate is issued by the producing mill from its own tests on the heat or lot. A third-party test report comes from an independent laboratory that tests a sample of the delivered material. Many buyers ask for both: the mill's record of production and an independent check.

Can I get my own inspection agency to witness testing?

Third-party inspection can usually be arranged when the requirement is stated at the enquiry stage, because it affects timing and cost. Mention the agency, the tests to be witnessed and any certificate format, such as EN 10204 3.2, in your enquiry.
